Gia Carangi has been called as the first supermodel. It was Gia Carangi to whom Cindy Crawford was refferd to as “baby Gia.”. On the other hand, Janice Dickinson is said to be one of the self proclaiming “world’s first supermodel. Who is Gia Carangi?
Gia Carangi is Gia Marie Carangi, born Janueary 29, 1960 and passed on November 18, 1986.. Gia Carangi was an American fashion model during 1970s and 1980s. Gia Carangi was considered to be the first supermodel though the same title was also noted to other famous models like Janice Dickinson,Dorian Leigh,and Jean Shrimpton.
Gia Carangi’s modeling career has declined after she became addicted to heroin. Gia carangi later became infected with HIV and passed away at the age of 26. Angelina Jolie portrayed the character of Gia Carangi in a biographical film in 1998.

Eh, Janice was never that great and looks like a plastic mommy now and is mental. All her claims she was the ‘first super model’ is a load of rubbish. She may have been in America but in the world – NO! Gia was always more beautiful than Janice ever was. She just looks like a sad old hag now. How sad. I just hate the way modelling has gone. Can we please bring back beautiful girls to modelling – not weird freaky looking ones! There is no such thing as ‘ugly beautiful’ TYRA! There is beautiful and not! Simple as that!
